Art & Exhibitions

If the interest goes towards art, street art, visual art, or perhaps performance art then OnSite Hosts offers an array of experiences.

In cooperation with a number of artists and galleries, you as a guest gets the opportunity to see photo art, crafts or anything else of your likings on gallery walks or perhaps by visiting an artist. In the more established museums – places like Arken or Aros and Louisiana, the National Gallery of Denmark and others in Copenhagen, we organize on request special closed guided tours, where the guest alone, in the company of, for example, the museum director, is shown around and introduced to the current exhibitions and artists.

There is also the opportunity to see the more quirky aspects of Danish art in places like the meatpacking district, or experiences of historical character with Vikings on Roskilde Viking Ship Museum. OnSite Hosts is constantly updated on what’s happening around the country and we can always guarantee a very special experience in the company of the art you as a guest are fondest of.

Case #1: Louisiana & Kødbyen

Duration: 7 hours

Start: At your hotel

Finish: At your hotel

You will be picked up at your hotel. You will also have a registered guide on the trip. The journey to Humlebæk and Louisiana follow Strandvejen, where the guide will entertain you with sights and landmarks underway, as well as the beautiful view of the sound.

At Louisiana, the guide will take you to see the current exhibits, and tell you about them. You will also have time, to walk around on your own and enjoy the museum out – and indoors.

Lunch will take place at GI-Humlebæk Kro. The inn lies close t Louisiana, and serves classic Danish lunch, and has had royal license since 1740. It’s just good, classic Danish food.

From here the trip goes back to Copenhagen. Now, it’s time to visit Kødbyen and the many small and crooked galleries here. Som of the galleries are situated in old abbattoirs and slaughterhouses, with white tile on the walls. There’s a lot of different exhibits, that fit in perfectly in such an artistic environment.

During the summer, there will also be a lot of other activities, e.g. their delicious food market every weekend. OnSite Hosts are very flexible, and can tweak the trip with fresh inputs.

Case #2: Street art tour & work shop

Duration: 3 hrs

Pick-up: Run for Cover shop

Drop-off: Siffs square

Remember to wear walking shoes. We are going on a walk. The tour starts at Run for Cover shop. This shop sells and introduces you to different brands within graffiti and art. Then we continue down the street by a Bates wall and some local street art, under a train bridge, and walk by a 102 meter long wall, newly made by more than 10 different artists from Denmark, Romania and England.

We pass the skate park and down to the Red Square, where we pass different legal and non-legal street art and graffiti. We end up at Bolsjefabrikken where we look and feel the art around us.

We then go to Thomas Dambo. He is an artist and designer based in Copenhagen. Together with his crew, Thomas makes beautiful and fun projects out of ”trash” and recycled materials, which they find around the city dumpsters. By doing this he hopes to inspire people to have fun and think of trash as a ressource.

Thomas Dambo makes anything from minor design projects like furniture and interior design to small and huge art projects, often involving his surroundings and people around him. Have a look at his many projects here.

At Thomas´ work shop, Thomas will give you a short introduction to his work and a tour around the shop. Thomas is well known for his Happy City Birds street art project, where he has made more than 4.000 decorated bird houses, which has been put up all over the world. After the short tour you will have a chance to paint your own bird house to bring home or hang up in the neighborhood.

We finish up with lunch together at Sifs Square. You decide whether you want lunch or not.
